Gabriela Party Rep. Brosas Joins Makabayan Senatorial Slate for 2025 Polls
By Harvey Sabado
Gabriela Partylist Representative Arlene Brosas officially announced her candidacy as one of the 12 Senators running under the Makabayan bloc in the 2025 Midterm Elections during a press conference in Quezon City on Tuesday, July 16.
She also mentioned that her senatorial candidacy is supported by a diverse coalition of women leaders and various women's groups nationwide.
Brosas, an activist for over two decades and a congresswoman for eight years, highlighted the current state of the Philippine government.
She emphasized that this situation is becoming more apparent as the 2025 elections approach and stressed the urgent need to elect genuine leaders in response to these concerns.
In a press interview after the program, Brosas told reporters that addressing women's issues was one of the factors that drove her to run.
Brosas is the second representative from the Makabayan bloc to announce her Senate candidacy, following the announcement by Alliance of Concerned Teachers' Party-list Representative France Castro.
